Carlos Calderon competed at the XFS-58 event this weekend and put on a great show!
He dominated most of the fight but unfortunately we'll have to also congratulate his
opponent "Tyler Cook" for a great comeback. He caught us in a triangle choke with
about 30 seconds left in the fight.

These are the times when we must "Keep it Real" and put it all in perspective!
We will be thankful that no one was hurt badly and Carlos showed a lot of skill and heart
in this fight. We will also realize that we need to have even better cardio and will practice
triangle defense in Jiu-Jitsu class today.

This is how we build character within "The Army" of Primal Tribe MMA and continue our
personal growth as well.....

Thanks to Beau Stiles Photography!

Czar Sklavos adds another win!
Oct 28, 2011

The fight started on their feet just like all other MMA competitions do....
Joe Kway (black shorts) started off with a leg kick, then one to the liver.
Sklavos caught the liver kick as he drove Kway to the fence for an immediate takedown to side-control.
Once on the ground, Sklavos controlled and advanced to the mount position where he was patient and
selective with his striking.

One of the most important aspects of MMA is knowing when to transition between various skills and tactics.
In this case, Sklavos illistrated these skills by being patient and switching from wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu, to striking

He used wrestling for the takedown then Jiu-Jitsu for ground control. Once his control was established,
he switched back and forth from striking and Jiu-Jitsu until a Head/Arm choke presented itself for the finish!

Everyone knew this match was going to be a great one and both fighters delivered!

Back and forth action with Burgara securing several takedowns and guard passes to control

most of the match. Congrtats to Raftery as he looked very good after a long layoff!
